This is kind of like two lights in one. If you run it on the 14500 li-ion battery (included with the torch) it will put out 600 lumens, and have a run time of 1 hour. However it can also run on a standard AA battery, when it only puts out 200 lumens and has a run time of 1.25 hours.
So with the 14500 it's a very capable back up light, or even a primary for a single dive. But with the AA battery and a lower light output it's ideal for providing a soft light. This is great for having attached to a mask strap for looking at things that are close such as reading gauges.
It comes with a mask attachment for hands free operation.
The Pygmy is ideal for free divers and cray hunters who want to keep their hands free.
