SOS Freedom8 Shark Deterrent by Sentinel Ocean Systems

Explore the ocean with total confidence using the SOS Freedom8 Shark Deterrent, the world’s most advanced personal electronic shark deterrent. Designed by Sentinel Ocean Systems, the Freedom8 offers a reliable layer of protection for scuba divers, freedivers, spearfishers, snorkelers, and ocean professionals.

Built on over 20 years of independently tested and peer-reviewed technology, this wearable device generates a powerful, non-lethal electrical field that actively discourages close-range shark interactions without harming marine life.

The Science of Safety: How It Works

Sharks have evolved over millions of years to detect faint electrical signals using highly sensitive electroreceptors called the Ampullae of Lorenzini. The Freedom8 uses this biology against them.

Once submerged, the device’s 2.2-meter trailing antenna creates a protective 3D electromagnetic field (approximately 6 meters in diameter). When a shark enters this zone, the electrical pulse safely overwhelms its sensory receptors, causing severe discomfort and triggering an instinctive, immediate retreat.

Key Features & Benefits

• Proven Technology: Built on decades of scientific research and real-world testing. Trusted by recreational divers and marine professionals globally.

• Depth Rated for Deep Dives: Engineered, pressure-tested, and fully rated to an impressive 50 meters (164 feet).

• Extended Battery Life: Enjoy 4 to 5 hours of continuous in-water operating time. The long-life lithium-ion battery supports up to 1,000 charge cycles.

• Fast Charging & LED Display: Recharges in just 3 to 3.5 hours. A built-in LED indicator lets you check your real-time battery status at a glance before you jump in.

• Wearable & Lightweight Design: Sits comfortably in a secure neoprene ankle pouch. While it weighs 1,025g on land, it has an incredibly light in-water weight of just 69g, ensuring it won’t cause drag or interfere with your fins.

• Automatic Activation: Instantly activates the moment the electrodes make contact with the water. No switches, no delay.

Who is the Freedom8 For?

Because of its portable, wearable design, the Freedom8 is the ultimate safety companion for:

• Scuba Divers: Secure it to your ankle and let the antenna trail seamlessly behind you.

• Spearfishers & Freedivers: Gives you peace of mind while handling catches in open water.

• Ocean Swimmers & Snorkelers: An unobtrusive way to stay protected during long surface swims.
